Only if your character is born in Tyria will it start as lvl 1.

NOPE
it stated very clearly that the level 20 RP were for the event only.
same as the beta GW level 20 RP that were yanked
you will start a new Cantha character in the monestary at level 1

Its going to work out the same. If you bring a character from c1 into c2 then it will start where the pre searing leaves off. By the time your c2 character is out of the pre searing it will be equal the c1 converting to c2
Meaning c1 will be mixed in with lvl 20 rits or zins. No one is going to make a pug with a lvl 1 zin or rit when you have access to all lvl 20 characters fighting lvl 24+ monsters.
Gaile explained this months ago.

Well, now you explained what you meant, I understand. Before, it sounded like you were saying Cantha born characters will start at Level 20.
We'll see how many levels we'll gain in "pre-Cantha", but I know there will be some who rush through, so not all exiting will be level 20, even if it is the "norm" (which I'm not convinced it will be.)
I always assumed the exit would be around Level 15, depending on the quests done, and the last five levels will be on the way to the Port City where you meet up with the Prophecy Vanguard.

I don't quite understand how it is going to work. It doesn't make sense for a smaller pre-searing to get you to level 20, unless they really jack-up the XP rates. In Prophecies, getting to level 20 took up a huge portion of the game content.

They have to make it equal ground for c1 players going to c2 and c2 only players. To do that they have to put you on equal ground somehow.
Otherwise the c2 only players will get left behind.

Answer to orginial question - statistically no. It's only 24 hours. But to a player, yeah 24 hours before the majority does sound very cool - and gives you potential for some kind of head start.

24 head start is not a big deal. I am going to take my time with quest and mossions any way.

I don't think the Head start is that big a deal, but it does give some people a chance to experience the game with a few less people to worry about. I'll be there just because I did preorder, and I'll be playing GW anyway, but I don't think i'll be making any rit's or sin's for a while. My pride and joy is my warrior, and it's time for him to conquer a new world

Cup-O-Noodles...check
12 pack of Full Throttle...check
Pizza Hut on speed dial...check
Fake sick voice...check
Cumfy chair...check
Bathroom within easy reach...check
Back-up power supply in case of power outage...check
Full nights rest the day before...check
Factions pre-order...um...aw crap I knew I forgot something.
I plan on playing during the 24 hours before, but that's mainly because regardless of whether I do or not all my in-game friends and guildies will be playing during the headstart. So it's either sit-in the guild hall all by my lonesome while listening to my guildies play Factions on Vent, or have super stupendeous amounts of fun teleporting around on my Assassin. I personally choose the latter of the two.
